I thoroughly enjoy learning in all of the music courses I take. I've been studying the basics and fundamentals of voice so that I can elaborate on that with my own unique vocal style. I have been learning much through Music Theory and Musicianship Skill classes. I have been having a blast and gaining valuable experience in different ensembles including Pop Rock Lab Ensemble. Recently I sang backup vocals for a Beatles song and played the drums for one of Switchfoot's more popular and complex songs. Professor Pontbriand has done a wonderful job of encouraging me, and I look forward to the progress I'll be making soon in the field. I can't wait to start writing my own music—which will make sense now that I'm receiving a formal music education. - Jonathan Sefik, sophomore with voice principal in popular music |
