Alumnae Tea Raises $15,000 for Student Scholarships

High fashion was the theme of the Palm Beach Atlantic University Alumni Association’s 2017 Afternoon Tea and Silent Auction, held April 29 at the Wyndham Grand Jupiter at Harborside Place. The event netted $15,000 for the annual scholarship fund.

“We are grateful for the record number of guests that supported Palm Beach Atlantic student scholarships by attending the tea,” said Delesa Morris, assistant vice president for Alumni Relations and Annual Fund. “It was exciting to showcase the fashion designs of alumna Kristen Alyce and the VIVRE Canvas Couture that set the theme for the event.”

Alyce founded VIVRE Couture in April 2016 with a vision for an inspired line of wearable original paintings with the highest quality elements of art, design and construction. A 2005 Palm Beach Atlantic art education graduate, Alyce had taught K-12 art in Palm Beach County for several years before developing her first business, Garbage Gone Glam, to support social causes.

After the models cruised the runway showing off gowns, skirts and tops along with accessories including shoes, handbags and gentlemen’s bow ties, Alyce told the audience that the gowns and cocktail attire are made with a minimum of five fittings and require between 25 and 80 hours of hands-on attention between designer, artist and seamstress. The Palm Beach Collection was featured during Couture Fashion Week in New York City last fall and several pieces have been loaded to celebrities to wear to special events in Los Angeles, she said.

The afternoon included a silent auction, and 15 guests received a raffle prize from Lilly Pulitzer. There also were gifts from Tanya Moss Jewelry sponsored by Annah Wolf and Claudia Moore for guests best dressed at their table. The Lubben brothers played classical music during the silent auction.

Event sponsors were include Beautyfool Hair Studio, The Palm Beach Post, Sabadell Bank & Trust, Mandy & Justin Girard, Frances Fisher, Deborah Jaffe, Jessica Clasby, Mittleman Eyecare, Saxon Business Solutions, Sharon Gill, Claudia Moore, Annah Wolf, Tyrene Patriello and Molly’s Trolleys.

Event committee members were Natalie Alvarez, Jessica Clasby, Janie Thomas Fogt, Mandy Girard, Claudia Moore, Tyrene Petriello Morgans, Michele Purino, Joanna Sjoberg, Cristina Sotolongo, Jenna Steffens, Dee Tejada, Geanine Wester and Annah Wolf.
