PBA Summer Camps: The Arts, Athletics and Science

Science Summer Camp and Summer Institute

Palm Beach Atlantic University presents The Center for Integrative Science Learning's Summer Camp and Summer Institute a science summer camp for children in kindergarten through eighth grades.

Dates: June 10 – 14, 2013.

Times: The camps will run 8:30 a.m. –  3:30 p.m. (pick up/checkout is  3 – 3:30 p.m.), with lunch noon – 12:30 p.m.
Extended care (7:30 – 8:30 a.m.  and 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.) can be provided at additional cost.

Cost: $175 for one child; there is a 10 percent discount for each additional sibling ($157.50).

Science Exploration Camp, with two specific age-groups:
Group 1:  Kindergarten – second graders

Group 2 : Third  – fifth graders

• All exploration activities will be outdoors or in the classroom. (The camp is ran exclusively by counselors; no laboratory experiments.)
• Break for physical activity following lunch.
• Schedule will allow for arts and crafts down time centered around the science topic of the day.

Science Camp – For middle school campers

Group 3 : Sixth – eighth graders

• Counselors on hand for activities outside the lab.
• Daily laboratory experiments led by PBA faculty. (During the first three days of camp, teachers from Conniston Middle School will join campers in the laboratory, so as to be trained to implement such experiments in their own classrooms.)
• Break for physical activity following lunch.
• Fun activities in the afternoon, centered around the science topic of the day.

The camps will center around a specific theme each day:

• Monday: Rocks, minerals and fossils
• Tuesday: The body, nutrition and exercise
• Wednesday: The environment
• Thursday: Animals
• Friday: Genetics and Forensics

Preparatory Department's Dance Summer Session

The Preparatory Department is hosting a three-week Dance Summer Session from June 10-29 offering dance classes in ballet, modern, conditioning and more.

Classes include:

Summer Ballet (Eileen Hebron): 9:30-11 a.m., Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Modern/Contemporary Dance (Jin Lee): 9:30-11 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday         
Variations/Pointe (Eileen Hebron): 11 a.m.-noon, Monday, Wednesday, Friday         
Essential Stretch for Dancers (Jin Lee): 11 a.m.-noon, Tuesday and Thursday       
Conditioning for Dance (Eileen Hebron): 1-2 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Jazz Repertoire (Jin Lee): 1-2 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday                                           
Pre-ballet (Meredith Bucklin): 10-11 a.m., Saturday

The first camp date is June 24-26, 2013 while the second camp is a similar format on the dates of July 15-17, 2013.

A third camp is set to take place on July 18, 2013 for a one-day camp.

Girls' Soccer

Type of Camp: Sailfish Elite Soccer Showcase Camp
Dates: Check back for dates.

The PBA Summer Elite Showcase Camp will feature college coaches from around the state of Florida at every level and as a result each camper will be exposed to not just PBA but many college programs.

Girls' Volleyball

There will be two summer sessions offered this year with both camps under the direction of head coach Bob White, his staff, and PBA players as instructor.

Type of Camp: Individual Camp.
Dates/Time: June 17-20, 2013. Overnight camp; 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for commuters.
Cost: $375 for overnight, which includes all meals; $295 for commuters, which includes lunch.

Type of Camp: Individual Camp.
Dates/Time: July 8-11, 2013. Overnight camp; 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for commuters.
Cost: $375 for overnight, which includes all meals; $295 for commuters, which includes lunch.

* The PBA Individual Camps are designed for beginner-to-intermediate skill level players. All skills will be focused on.

Type of Camp: Team Camp.
Dates/Time: July 15-18, 2013. Overnight camp; 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. for commuters.
Cost: $375 for overnight, which includes all meals; $295 for commuters, which includes lunch.

* The PBA Team Camp is designed for higher-level players. Skill enhancement and team philosophy will be the focus.
