Sure, we all mess up! Even King David, a "man after God's own heart," committed sins. We all need guidance, and Student Accountability gives restorative accountability, sanctions, modeling and encouragement to help you return to a biblically directed lifestyle. If you have overstepped our PBA community values, we can help you get back on track through our Matthew 18 and Amnesty policies.
You can find more information on the accountability process in our student handbook "The Navigator."
Hebrews 12:4-11: "My dear child, don't shrug off God's discipline, but don't be crushed by it either. It's the child he loves that he disciplines; the child he embraces, he also corrects. God is educating you; that's why you must never drop out. This trouble you're in isn't punishment; it's training, the normal experience. At the time, discipline isn't much fun. It always feels like it's going against the grain. Later, of course, it pays off handsomely, for it's the well-trained who find themselves mature in their relationship with God."
"...I thank God for this season in my life in which He completely showed Himself faithful, walked me through a new chapter of my life, and got my attention. It is without a doubt amazing how each storm and trial that we are faced with are used to strengthen us in our relationship with the Lord when we allow them to be means of growth. That perseverance that comes through the struggle is a huge blessing. I really appreciate the time which you all have invested in my life in one way or another.
...Student Accountability has been a blessing in my life. I thank God for the opportunity to be at a Christian school in which we are held accountable for the actions we take and a school in which you find people who care for your spiritual and personal growth. If it weren't for Student Accountability desiring in students and especially student leaders a life above reproach, I don't know where I would be today. Knowing that someone is there to hold me to a higher standard has made the past three years at PBA not only unforgettable, but a chapter in my life in which I can end with victory because I have walked upright as the Lord wants me to walk."
"In 2006, I started my first year in college. I was active in my faith; however, I had friendships that were not the healthiest in terms of building character and growing in my relationship with Christ. The friendships eventually led me to making compromising decisions and moral mistakes. It was the first month of school my freshmen year when myself and ten friends were sanctioned for being past visitation hours in one of the male dorms. At first, I didn’t understand what the “big deal” was. I mean, it was just hanging out and I wasn’t doing anything really “shady”. I soon realized how much risk I was putting myself in. One of the sanctions we received was to write a 5 page reflection paper on scriptures and topics relating to avoiding the appearance of evil, avoiding temptation, and holding others accountable.
It was through this paper that student accountability changed my life. I realized that my behavior was putting my character in jeopardy but not just that, I wasn’t representing Christ well. I began to ask myself the question “do I look like a Christ follower?” I wanted with all my heart to be able to say “yes” to that question. But, honestly, at that time I didn’t know if I could. I knew that there were changes to be made in my life. So, I really started to dive into the Word and really seeking to make Godly wise decisions. I prayed that God will develop me as a leader and my life would be changed because of this discipline. God answered that prayer and I began to get involved with ILT, Point 58, missions and other areas on campus. He began to use my brokenness to mentor others and serve the PBA community. Going through PBA Accountability is one of the best things to happen to me. It helped me get back on the right track and be who I want to represent."
