Six Palm Beach Atlantic University student leaders and one student organization were recognized during the recent Refresh Student Leadership Awards dinner in the Weyenberg Center.

For the first time, the Parents Fund Emerging Leader Scholarship Award was presented to two students, sophomore popular music major Jaden Glass of North Palm Beach and junior political science major John Varano of West Palm Beach.

Established by the University’s Parents Council, the award recognizes students who demonstrate excellent leadership qualities.

The Rothschild Leadership Scholarship was presented to Elvir Ciceklic of Dunedin. The award recognizes an outstanding freshman leader of PBA’s Impact Leadership Team.

The scholarship was established by PBA alumni Philip Rothschild ’85 and his wife, Jennifer Jolley Rothschild ’86, to recognize student leadership potential.

Also during the dinner, junior psychology major Nathaniel Flores of Titusville and junior biblical and theological studies major Melissa Barciela of Miami were honored as recipients of the Servant Leadership Award.

The Servant Leadership Award recognizes students who are leaders in the areas of ministry and community service. Awards are provided through a generous donation from Sam and Betsy Reeves of North Palm Beach.

The Outstanding Student Government Member award went to theatre arts major Dana White, a senior from West Palm Beach. White is the SGA’s vice president.

This year’s award for Outstanding Student Organization went to the Transfer Club, a club for students who have transferred from another school to PBA.

During the event, all of the graduating seniors in attendance stood for recognition, and seniors A.J. Titus and Shelby Grant gave a brief challenge to their peers.
