Pharmacy Financial Aid

The Office of Financial Aid is pleased to assist new and returning Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy students throughout the financial aid process. The Pharm.D. Degree at Palm Beach Atlantic University is considered a four-year professional level degree.  In terms of financial aid, this means that students are generally not eligible for grant assistance through the federal government, but substantial loan assistance is available through the Federal Direct Loan Program and through alternative or Graduate Plus loans.

2016-2017 Tuition and Fees

Tuition: 
  • P1 - P3: $17,988 per semester (2 total)
  • P4:         $11,992 per rotation block (3 total)
Fees:
  • P1 - P3: $447 per semester  (2 total)
  • P4:         $542 per rotation block (3 total)
Health Insurance: $1,795
Laptop fee: $1,871 (first year pharmacy students only)

 

Check Account Status

Students can view their financial aid and student account online at any time by visiting myPBA at http://my.pba.edu. After logging in, select Student Account Center on the main page. This will allow you to view your student account statement. Select Financial Aid Portal to view your financial aid awards and the status of required documents.
 

FAFSA

To complete the 2016-2017 FAFSA, visit www.fafsa.gov. Please use PBA's school code (008849) on your application. To allow for timely processing, please complete the FAFSA by May 1, 2016.
 

Scholarships

The PHS Scholarships are merit-based with two award levels (Honors and High Honors) and are awarded to selected incoming P1 students. 
 

Pharmacy Honors and Service Scholarship


What am I eligible for?

First Year Pharmacy with less than 90 earned credit hours
First year pharmacy students with less than 90 earned credit hours are limited to the undergraduate Stafford loan limits of $7,500. Earned credit hours are determined from an official transcript.  Subsidized and / or unsubsidized loans will automatically be offered after completing the FAFSA. A Direct Loan Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling Session is required.

An additional credit based loan, the Parent PLUS loan, is also available for the parents of a dependent student. The Parent PLUS loan may be applied for after April 15, 2016. Parents of dependent student can apply for a Parent PLUS loan at www.studentloans.gov.

The maximum that can be borrowed in Stafford and Parent PLUS loans combined is $64,388.
 
First Year Pharmacy with greater than 90 earned credit hours
First year pharmacy students with greater than 90 earned credit hours can borrow up to $33,000 in unsubsidized loans. The unsubsidized loan will automatically be offered after completing the FAFSA. A Direct Loan Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling Session is required.

An additional credit based loan, the Graduate PLUS loan, is also available. The maximum amount that the Graduate PLUS loan can be applied for is $31,388. The Graduate PLUS loan may be applied for after April 15, 2016. Students can apply for a Graduate PLUS loan at www.studentloans.gov

Second and Third Year Pharmacy
Second and third year pharmacy students can borrow up to $33,000 in unsubsidized loans. The unsubsidized loan will automatically be offered after completing the FAFSA.

Final Year Pharmacy
For the final year of pharmacy, students are enrolled for a full 12 months due to the cycle of rotations. Due to this additional time period student are eligible to borrow up to $37,167 in unsubsidized loans. The unsubsidized loan will automatically be offered after completing the FAFSA.

An additional credit based loan, the Graduate PLUS loan, is also available. The maximum amount that the Graduate PLUS loan can be applied for is $36,954. The Graduate PLUS loan may be applied for after April 15, 2016. Students can apply for a Graduate PLUS loan at www.studentloans.gov

The maximum that can be borrowed in unsubsidized and Graduate PLUS loans combined is $74,121.


Refund Information

If the total amount of financial aid exceeds the cost of tuition, the school will reimburse you in the form of a direct deposit or a reloadable prepaid card. The refund will be issued within 10 business days after the loan funds post to your account. The refund cannot be issued prior to the loan funds being disbursed to your account, which is dependent upon the date you begin enrollment. 

We will verify your enrollment in the pharmacy program.  If all of your documentation is received and correct, we will begin processing your loans by the third week of classes. Additional information on the timing of your refund will be communicated to you via PBA email. Please plan to take care of your outside expenses until you receive a refund.

How do I know if my refund is ready?
The week prior to your refund being ready, your student account statement will indicate the date of the refund. If you have not elected direct deposit by visting the refund portal, the reloadable prepaid card will be mailed to your address on file.

Health Insurance

Palm Beach Atlantic University requires all full-time pharmacy students to have health insurance, both to protect against unexpected high medical costs and to provide access to quality care. Students will be automatically enrolled in the annual plan. Students with an approved health insurance plan may apply for a waiver after May 1, 2016 by visiting www.pbastudentins.com.
