PBA Volleyball Earns First-Ever Berth in NCAA Tournament

The 'Fish are officially in.

The Palm Beach Atlantic University Salifish volleyball team was announced on Sunday night as one of the 64 participants for the upcoming NCAA Division II Championship Tournament Nov. 29-Dec. 8. The Sailfish claimed the No. 3-seed in the South Region.

The 2012 Palm Beach Atlantic University Sailfish volleyball team earns a berth in the NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament. PBA is a private, accredited, Christ-centered college located in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA.

A long-time power in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA), this is the first time the Sailfish have earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The Sailfish (33-3) boast one of the top records in the tournament as they will be matched up with Rollins (Fla.) College (18-14) in the opening round set for Nov. 29. The South Region Tournament will be hosted by No. 1-seed University of Tampa at the Bob Martinez Athletics Center.

Palm Beach Atlantic is riding a 10-match winning streak and has won 31 of its last 32 matches.

Rollins Thwon four of their final five matches, all within the competitive Sunshine State Conference .

The remainder of the South Region bracket features the University of West Florida claiming the Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship on their way to the No. 2-seed while matched up with conference-foe Christian Brothers University as the No. 7-seed.

Eckerd College (No. 4-seed) will take on Florida Southern (No. 5-seed) while Tampa (No. 1-seed) gets Clark Atlanta University (No. 8-seed) as the representative from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

The Sailfish would take on the winner of the West Florida and Christian Brothers match in the second round.
