School of Communication & Media

You love to tell stories, to connect to audiences, to collaborate with others to create something that impacts the heart and the mind. You’ll do that and more as a student in the theatre department at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Your Program

As a student in PBA’s theatre department, you may choose from the following programs:

  • Theatre, Acting for Stage and Screen, Theatre Technology and Design, Musical Theatre.

Your Experience

You’ll be prepared for your future through a program that emphasizes:

  • Educational and professional opportunities, whether you want to act, direct, design, produce or serve as a technician, stage manager, educator or church drama leader.
  • Participating in sold-out performances of productions, such as "As You Like It" or in A.L.I.C.E. (A Live Improv Comedy Experience), PBA’s longest-running improvisational comedy showcase.
  • Performing at a variety of venues, from our new Fern Street Theatre to the Schwartz Theater at The Norton Museum of Art to the outstanding Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, within walking distance of the PBA campus.
  • Collaboration with faculty and fellow students, who come from across the country and around the world.
  • Learning in a Christ-centered environment— where your professors share the Christian worldview.

Your Facilities

The facility, called the Fern Street Theatre, houses offices, classrooms, and performance space. It will help elevate students like you to the next level of skill and performance.

Your Faculty

You’ll learn from professors who have earned degrees from some of the top fine arts programs in the world. One of our professors has toured with the Royal New Zealand Ballet and served as artistic director of the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival. And another has done commercial work for Humana, Papa John’s Pizza, National City Car Rental and McDonald’s.

Your Opportunities

Each year you may participate in about a half-dozen productions — ranging from Shakespeare to children’s theatre. Because we’re an undergraduate-only school, you won’t be competing with graduate students for a shot at performance opportunities. You’ll be considered for performances from your very first year.
