PBA is just one of three schools in the CCCU to offer a major in dance.


The Department of Dance at Palm Beach Atlantic University strives to develop dancers whose creative expression combines artistic beauty with Christian character.

The dance major at PBA will allow you to master a variety of dance techniques, display articulate verbal and non-verbal communication, understand dance from a historical and cultural perspective and perform with a unique artistic voice.

Whether you want a career as a dance teacher and possibly own a dance studio, or as a professional performing dancer, the dance major provides the option of a pedagogy track or a performance track. Palm Beach Atlantic University is one of only three schools in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities to offer a major in Dance.

Your Courses & Classes

Your Experience

  • Enjoy a 13:1 student-to-faculty ratio and an average class size of just 18.
  • Gain historical and theoretical knowledge essential to an understanding of dance.
  • Engage in hands-on learning through internships with national dance companies and through residency and ensemble requirements.
  • Develop your dance skills by performing your own work as well as the works of faculty and visiting guest artists.
  • Develop the skills and knowledge you need to teach dance privately or in schools, churches or recreational programs.

Your Faculty

One of our faculty members was the principal dancer with the Park Sunyoung Ballet Company in South Korea, and has worked with such world-renowned choreographers as Douglas Dunn, Sarah Kaufman and Sarah Pearson. Another is a national authority on dance education and performed with the School of Hartford Ballet in Connecticut.

Your Opportunities

The Department of Dance presents at least two fully produced dance concerts and several student showcases each academic year. Productions range from classical to contemporary in nature, in order to give the you an opportunity to work in various dance genres.

If you decide to pursue dance performance upon graduation, you will be prepared to perform with:

  • Professional dance troupes
  • Theater companies
  • Movie companies
  • Dance companies
  • Performance companies on cruise ships or in amusement parks

As a teacher you can find employment with a dance studio, performing arts center, in schools or churches. You'll be able to teach your speciality, whether it be ballet, ballroom or modern, to name a few, to clientele that can range in age from children to adults.
