Opportunities

Dance at Palm Beach Atlantic University is a part of the School of Music and Fine Arts. We present at least two dance concerts and several student showcases each academic year. We hold one major production with live music annually. Productions range from classical to contemporary, in order to give you an opportunity to work in various dance genres.

Recent performances have included "Firebird Suite," "La Valse," "Tributaries," "Paquita" and other re-creations of great dance compositions. New compositions including "Prayer Cycle," "Bella Danza" and "Prism," also have been premiered recently.

Participation in our dance productions is open to all PBA students, regardless of your major. Dance majors and minors are required to participate in all productions.

Every year you'll have the opportunity to do additional study and observation at Miami City Ballet and other local companies.

The Kravis Center also provides opportunities for you to observe rehearsals and attend performances of traveling national and international dance companies.

Internships

Upperclassmen have the opportunity to earn up to six hours of credit a term (usually in the summer) to intern with a national dance company.
Palm Beach Atlantic University is one of only three schools in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities to offer a major in dance.

A number of our students have spent summers at such prestigious companies as Jacob's Pillow, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Mark Morris Dance Company and Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre. As internship opportunities become known, the dance faculty notifies qualified students.
