H. Wayne Huizenga, Jr. will be the featured speaker at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Fall Commencement at 3 p.m. Saturday, December 13. The event, which will be held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, is open to graduates and guests who hold tickets.
Nearly 300 candidates for bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the West Palm Beach and Orlando campuses as well as the Wellington Educational Center will participate in the ceremony.
Huizenga is the president of Huizenga Holdings, Inc., a diversified company that manages and owns the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League and Dolphin Stadium in South Florida, as well as investments in resorts and real estate. He is a founding board member of the Bank of Florida and chairman of the board of Rybovich, a marina and yacht refit company based in West Palm Beach.
He graduated from the University of Tampa with a degree in business in 1985.
He is a board member for the Luis Palau Evangelistic Association, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County and the Christian Community Foundation of South Florida. He also participates in the operations of Vida Nueva Ministries, the Souper Bowl of Caring, Door of Hope Outreach, Inc., Trinity Forum, Lifework and Impact XXI. Huizenga also is actively involved in business organizations PathNorth, the CEO Forum and the Young Presidents’ Organization.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Fonda Hix, in 1991. They have four children: Savannah, Tres (Wayne, III), Gerritt and Ainsley. They regularly attend Calvary Chapel in Fort Lauderdale.
