The hospital practice learning experience is designed to develop independent pharmacist skills in the hospital setting.It gives the opportunity for involvement in:
- The medication distribution process
- Control of narcotics
- Clinical monitoring of patients
- Administrative functions of the hospital pharmacist.
You will be trained for this experience during orientation and participate in this experience longitudinally for one day each week throughout the residency year.
The academic administration learning experience is designed to develop management and leadership skills relevant to an academic setting.It provides insight into:
- Faculty development
- Strategies of effective teaching
- Managing faculty resources
- Conducting meetings
- Program planning
- Programmatic assessment from an accreditation perspective.
You will be directly engaged in the activities and responsibilities of the dean of a school of pharmacy.
The ambulatory care learning experience is designed to develop independent pharmacist skills in an ambulatory care setting.It gives the opportunity for involvement in:
- The medication therapy management services distribution process
- Documentation
- Clinical monitoring of patients
- Administrative functions of an ambulatory care pharmacist.
You will be trained for this experience during orientation and participate in this experience longitudinally with three 5 week blocks dispersed throughout the residency year.
The drug information learning experience is designed to develop independent pharmacist skills in providing all aspects of complete and accurate drug information.This includes systematically searching for information in tertiary, secondary and primary sources both in written and electronic formats.You will continue to enhance their literature evaluation skills to be able to effectively extrapolate pertinent information in clinical trials to make patient care decisions.You will be trained for this experience during orientation and participate in this experience longitudinally with questions and projects throughout the residency year.
