Palm Beach Atlantic University alumni and friends in the Orlando area teamed up recently for their second Workship project at Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee.
Twenty-eight participants representing graduation years from 1974 to 2010 served breakfast on a Saturday morning to families at Give Kids the World, a 70-acre, non-profit resort that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
One alumna traveled from Jacksonville that morning to serve, said Amy Paul '00/'09 ORL, the Central Florida chapter leader for the PBA Alumni Association.
"Everyone asked to do the project again, and many expressed interest in serving at Give Kids the World on a more regular basis," Paul said.
"While most of the participants live in Central Florida, a majority of them didn't know that GKTW was right in their back yard. So it was a win-win — great for PBA alums to connect and serve in their community, and great for introducing GKTW to a new group of people."
