Organizational Management: Concentrations, Specializations, Minors

 

Concentration Options
A concentration is a 16-hour special focus of courses beyond your major. The concentration of Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior are added to your major and are listed on your official transcript.

 

Concentration in Human Resource Management
A concentration in Human Resource Management provides the courses which will interest those students who intend to pursue career opportunities in Human Resource Management. This profession involves working with Employee Labor Laws; Organizational Training and Development; Staffing and Recruiting; Compensation and Benefits; Coaching; Career Counseling; Consulting and multiple positions dealing with organizational management.

Concentration in Organizational Behavior
The concentration in Organizational Behavior is for students whose careers will involve organizational change; human resource development; industrial psychology; organizational development and performance management. It focuses on the underlying influencers and motivators of individual, group, and organizational behavior. The student will need to select four electives from the courses offered in this category.

Concentration in Early Childhood Education and Care (Online Only)
The Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) specialization offers working professionals the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree and the courses necessary to become an effective preschool teacher, or to move into a leadership position in early childcare and management. This concentration does not fulfill the requirements for Head Start certification. In addition, EEDU 4394 will complete the classroom requirements for the Director’s Credentials.

The following courses are required (16 Credit Hours):

EEDU 3224 Introduction to Pre-Primary Early Childhood Education
EEDU 3234 Model Programs in Early Childhood Curriculum
EEDU 4374 Teaching the Young Pre-Primary Exceptional Child
EEDU 4384 Classroom Management and Guidance for the Preschool Child
 

 


 Specialization Option

 

Specialization in Early Childhood Education and Care (Online Only)
The Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) specialization offers working professionals the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree and the courses necessary to become an effective preschool teacher, or to move into a leadership position in early childcare and management. This specialization incorporates all requirements necessary for Head Start certification. It would allow students to obtain both the Foundational and Director’s Credentials necessary for early childcare administration.

The following courses are required, and are offered through PBA's School of Education and Behavioral Studies (click here for school's page). These 32 hours fulfill the Head Start requirements for teachers.

EEDU 4494 Pre-K Primary Practicum in Curriculum Design and Assessment


Minors
