Commencement

At the end of the fall and spring semesters, PBA holds a commencement ceremony for all graduates. Commencement is held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, just west of PBA's main campus.

What time is graduation?

Graduation or Commencement begins at 2 p.m. The event takes place at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, on Okeechobee Boulevard just west of the PBA campus. Line up for the academic procession begins at 12:30 p.m., so graduates should plan to arrive around that time.  It is strongly recommended that all graduates attend Graduation Rehearsal at 1 p.m. the Friday prior in the DeSantis Family Chapel on campus.


Where exactly is the Convention Center and where do I park?

The Palm Beach County Convention Center is located at 650 Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach (33401). 

NOTE: There will be extremely limited parking at Palm Beach County Convention Center during this year’s commencement ceremony. Therefore, we strongly recommend that graduates get dropped off in front of the convention center and guests arrive early and park on campus.

The Dixie Parking Garage and PBA surface lots will be available for family parking. Please plan ahead of time for you and your family to arrive early. We will provide shuttles to facilitate transportation between PBA and the convention center.

Before Ceremony

  • Time: Continuous service from 12:30–1:30 p.m.
  • Where: In front of the Dixie Parking Garage

After Ceremony

  • Time: Continuous service from end of ceremony
  • Where: Valet area of convention center

You will be dropped back off in front of the parking garage.

Do I need a ticket to attend graduation?

Tickets are required for all guests. Guests who require special seating (e.g. wheelchairs, etc.) should have their graduate contact the Office of the Registrar at (561) 803-2000 to make arrangements. Doors open and guests may be seated one hour before the event. Commencement is a ticketed event, so please do not invite guests for whom you do not have tickets. Please email ticket questions to Registrar@pba.edu.

What about photographs and recordings of the ceremony?

Grad Images is the official photographer for Commencement. Two individual photos of each graduate are taken. The proofs are sent to each graduate offering the option of purchasing the photos directly from Grad Images. In addition, a DVD of the ceremony is available. Ordering information is available at cap and gown pick up.

You may take your own photographs prior to, during and after the ceremony. Please observe the roped off areas that allow the academic procession to enter and leave the auditorium. Please be considerate of other guests and the nature of the ceremony when you choose your camera positions.

What happens after the ceremony?

When the ceremony concludes after the Benediction, guests are asked to stand during the academic recessional. At the conclusion of the recessional, guests may leave through the guest exit and join their graduates and the faculty for photos and fellowship.

Afterward, if you're hungry, there are a number of excellent restaurants in CityPlace within walking distance of the convention center.
