Palm Beach Atlantic University is ranked 51st among the best universities in the South according to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2015 edition released today. The publication includes rankings of more than 1,400 schools nationwide. With the snip of a ceremonial ribbon, Palm Beach Atlantic University's field of dreams, some six years in the making, became a glorious reality on Thursday, culminating with a victory for the Sailfish men's soccer team in its inaugural game on the team's first-ever home field.

Palm Beach Atlantic University is a partner with Complete Florida, an online program specifically for adults who have earned some college credit but stopped out before earning a degree. In Florida, approximately 2.2 million adults have earned some college credit. By 2018, approximately 59 percent of the jobs in Florida will require postsecondary credentials beyond a high school diploma. With this in mind, the State University System of Florida, the Florida College System and the Florida Legislature have made it a priority to increase the percentage of Floridians with a postsecondary credential. Complete Florida addresses this critical gap in our postsecondary landscape, with priority given to veterans and active duty military.

Students Melissa Barciela of Miami and Nathaniel Flores of Titusville have been named the 2014 recipients of the Servant Leadership Award from Palm Beach Atlantic University. The Servant Leadership Award recognizes students who are leaders in the areas of ministry and community service. Awards are provided through a generous donation from Sam and Betsy Reeves of North Palm Beach.

Students Recognized for Servant Leadership On, Off Campus

State Sen. Joe Negron (R-Stuart) was true to his word when he promised to keep his remarks brief on Saturday during Palm Beach Atlantic University's spring commencement. Yet though his remarks were brief, Sen. Negron packed a lot of wisdom in three succinct points. Held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, the afternoon ceremony included a tribute to one of PBA's founding fathers and a posthumous degree presentation to a father of four who met with an untimely death in March.

The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Palm Beach Atlantic University has announced the recipients of the University's 2014-2015 Quality Initiative (QI) Faculty and Student Research Grants. The grant cycle runs from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2015.

Palm Beach Atlantic University Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Joseph Kloba recently announced seven faculty promotions. Those promoted include Dr. Linda Ellington, Dr. Diane Esposito, Dr. Patrick Heyman, Dr. Melvin Holder, Dr. Sam Joeckel, Dr. Ann Langlois and Dr. Lee Prescott.

Palm Beach Atlantic University President William M. B. Fleming, Jr. announced today the retirement of the University’s Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Joseph A. Kloba. Joining the University in 1995 to lead the graduate counseling program, Dr. Kloba was promoted to associate provost in 1998 and has served as provost for nearly 11 years. President Fleming announced the appointment of Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. as Palm Beach Atlantic’s new provost and chief academic officer effective June 1. Dr. Fant has served as executive vice president for academic administration and dean of the faculty at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He co-led the development of the Union 2015 Strategic Plan. Prior to his current role, Dr. Fant served as vice president of academic administration and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and previously chaired the 10-member English department at Union.

Florida State Senator Joe Negron (R-Stuart) is the featured speaker at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Spring Commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.
