Orlando Campus Hosts Workshop to Support Adoptive Families

Palm Beach Atlantic University makes it a four-peat, ranking among the top 25 colleges and universities in U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 Best Online Education Programs since the survey began four years ago. In ratings announced today, Palm Beach Atlantic is tied with Siena Heights University (Michigan) at 25th. U.S. News rated 214 online bachelor’s degree programs in this survey. Palm Beach Atlantic offers three bachelor’s degree programs completely online: ministry, organizational management and psychology. In addition, the University presently offers one online master’s degree, the Master of Science degree in leadership. Palm Beach Atlantic’s new Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, which begins this month, is a hybrid program offering courses online and on ground. About 25 percent of the University’s traditional student body is enrolled in at least one online course per academic year.

The Rev. Gerald Kisner, pastor of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, challenged the nearly 200 Palm Beach Atlantic University graduates taking part in the fall commencement ceremony at the Palm Beach County Convention Center on Saturday to "look for ways that God can use you to bring about justice, peace, liberation and equality for all of God's children."

Kisner to Speak at Fall Commencement

The Rev. Gerald D. Kisner, pastor of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, will be the featured speaker at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Fall Commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 13 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The event is open to graduates and guests who hold tickets. More than 200 candidates for bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the West Palm Beach, Orlando and Wellington campuses will participate in the ceremony. Kisner came to the church in 1995 after a distinguished career in education, law and public administration. A Cleveland, Ohio native, he earned a master’s degree in public administration from Case Western Reserve University, a law degree from Harvard University and a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University.

Palm Beach Atlantic University Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Gene Fant announced several administrative faculty re-assignments involving the Orlando and West Palm Beach campuses. Effective January 1, 2015, Dr. Craig Domeck will become dean of the MacArthur School of Leadership on the West Palm Beach campus. Domeck had served the University for nine years at the Orlando campus, first as assistant professor of management and then interim dean. He was named dean of the Central Florida campuses in 2007 where he serves as assistant professor of leadership. Dr. Jim Laub will become the director of the graduate program in leadership. Laub had served as dean of the MacArthur School of Leadership and professor of leadership studies for nine years. Dr. Jeremy Couch ’04 MBA has been appointed executive director of the Orlando campus.

Palm Beach Atlantic University is ranked 51st among the best universities in the South according to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2015 edition released today. The publication includes rankings of more than 1,400 schools nationwide. With the snip of a ceremonial ribbon, Palm Beach Atlantic University's field of dreams, some six years in the making, became a glorious reality on Thursday, culminating with a victory for the Sailfish men's soccer team in its inaugural game on the team's first-ever home field.
