arents became learners along with their students at Conniston Middle School last week during the school's Florida State Assessment Family Night. More than 200 Conniston students and family members enjoyed a dinner of pasta, salad and dessert provided by Palm Beach Atlantic University's Center for Integrative Science Learning. Serving as volunteers for the event were 21 PBA students, one faculty member and two staff members.

Palm Beach Atlantic University students, and especially student athletes, have had a mighty advocate in University trustee Robert T. Owens, who died on Thursday at age 72. Two of PBA’s major athletic landmarks, the Rubin Arena in the Greene Complex for Sports and Recreation and the newly opened Rubin Park baseball field at the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Athletic Campus, stand as enduring tributes to Owens’ friendship with the late South Florida builder Jake Rubin. Since 1993, Owens has been president and CEO of the charitable J.M. Rubin Foundation, which has allocated more than $5 million to PBA over the years for both facilities and scholarships.
'Crusader' Trustee Remembered for Generosity, Loyalty

Four Palm Beach Atlantic University students in the School of Communication and Media have been named award recipients in the scriptwriting category of the Broadcast Education Association's Festival of Media Arts. One of those students, junior Brent Primus, won "Best of Festival" for his script "In the Dark," which is an original television series pilot.
