National political analyst and Harvard Kennedy School Professor David Gergen has seen much in his years as an adviser to Presidents Nixon, Ford, Reagan and Clinton. Yet unlike any previous time in our post-World War II history, today's politicians seem to be unable to find "common ground," Gergen told an audience of 400 in Palm Beach Atlantic University's DeSantis Family Chapel on Thursday.

Dr. Philip and Jennifer (Jolly) Rothschild are the speakers for Palm Beach Atlantic University's Founders Day Chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Greene Complex for Sports and Recreation, 1100 S. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach. The event is free. Founders Day is sponsored by the Palm Beach Atlantic University Alumni Association as the annual event commemorating the University’s establishment in 1968.

Annual Strongman Competition April 12 Opens to the Public

Palm Beach Atlantic University's Campus Recreation Department has opened its annual Strongman Competition to the public. Men and women age 18 and older are eligible to register for the competition set for 3 p.m. on Friday, April 12, at the Greene Complex for Sports and Recreation, 1100 S. Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach. Competitors in three divisions will participate in the Atlas Stone Lift, Tire Flip, Bus Pull, Deadlift, Farmer's Walk, Sledge Pull and Log Press. A trophy will be awarded. Competitors are encouraged to pre-register. The registration fee is $10. To register, contact regina_smith@pba.edu or call 561-803-2336.

National Honor Roll for Community Service Lauds Workship

Palm Beach Atlantic University was named to the 2013 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. This designation is the highest honor a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement. "Palm Beach Atlantic has a long history of service-learning and believes strongly in preparing our graduates to be active leaders and participants in an ever changing world," said President William M. B. Fleming, Jr. "We’re honored to receive this prestigious award – and owe much of it to the students themselves. They’re the energy driving our commitment and they’re the ones who make it all happen." Through a signature program called Workship, Palm Beach Atlantic University students have donated more than 2.55 million community service hours since the University was founded in 1968. This is the seventh straight year that Palm Beach Atlantic has been recognized with this honor.
