Palm Beach Atlantic University President William M. B. Fleming, Jr. announced today the retirement of the University’s Provost and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Joseph A. Kloba. Joining the University in 1995 to lead the graduate counseling program, Dr. Kloba was promoted to associate provost in 1998 and has served as provost for nearly 11 years. President Fleming announced the appointment of Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. as Palm Beach Atlantic’s new provost and chief academic officer effective June 1. Dr. Fant has served as executive vice president for academic administration and dean of the faculty at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. He co-led the development of the Union 2015 Strategic Plan. Prior to his current role, Dr. Fant served as vice president of academic administration and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, and previously chaired the 10-member English department at Union.

Florida State Senator Joe Negron (R-Stuart) is the featured speaker at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Spring Commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

The Quantum Foundation has awarded Palm Beach Atlantic University two grants totaling more than $280,000 over two years for health care needs in Palm Beach County.
PBA Receives Quantum Foundation Grants for Health Programs

Nine students were honored Tuesday as the outstanding graduates of their schools and several others received departmental awards and scholarships as part of Palm Beach Atlantic University's Honors Day ceremony. The outstanding graduates each receive special recognition during spring commencement on May 10.

Ten Palm Beach Atlantic University seniors were chosen to offer words of inspiration over four days in chapel last week. The speakers were chosen from a pool of students nominated by deans, faculty and staff members.

Palm Beach Atlantic’s Preparatory Department recently announced a list of their students who had won, through audition, acceptance into fine arts magnet schools in Palm Beach County. The University’s Preparatory Department provides weekly individual and group instruction in music and dance to children and youth ages 3 to 18. Curricula are available in violin, viola, cello, piano, organ, harp, flute, trumpet, voice, ballet, jazz and modern dance. In addition, group classes in piano, music theory and string ensemble are provided. Preparatory Department instructors all have advanced degrees in music or dance, and are active performers in such organizations as the Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet, Palm Beach Opera, Naples Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony and Cleveland Orchestra.

Angela Skaff, a third-year student in the Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy at Palm Beach Atlantic University, is among 12 recipients of the Student Leadership Award from American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). The award, sponsored by ASHP and the ASHP Research and Education Foundation, is given to student members in their second through fourth professional years of pharmacy school. The award winners receive a plaque, an ASHP drug information reference library and a $2,000 cash award.

GSOP Student Earns ASHP National Campus Leadership Honor

Longtime Palm Beach Atlantic University Professor of Psychology and four-time Fulbright scholar Dr. Billy Ray Lewter passed away on Saturday, April 19, after a long illness.
