Baseball Opener Begins with Celebration, Gift Announcement

A student team from the Lorenzo Walker Institute of Technology in Naples, Florida, recently won the top prize at the fourth annual Rinker School of Business Entrepreneurship High School Business Plan Challenge at Palm Beach Atlantic University. The students invented Cycle Guard, an apparatus designed to help motorists and bicyclists share the road safely.

An article by Dr. Justin Hardin, associate professor of biblical and theological studies at Palm Beach Atlantic University, has been published in the latest issue of the peer-reviewed journal Tyndale Bulletin. February has long been the month that baseball revs up in Florida, calling fans from around the country to enjoy their favorite sport while the snow is flying elsewhere. A new tradition of February baseball begins Tuesday, Feb. 3, with the season opener of Palm Beach Atlantic’s Sailfish on their home field in Rubin Park at the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Athletic Campus. Opening ceremonies are set for 5:45 p.m. in advance of the 6 p.m. opening pitch against Lynn University. The public is invited. Among those participating in the opening ceremonies are John J. and Sheila Rinker, representing the Marshall and Vera Lea Rinker Foundation, and other key contributors to the athletic campus including the J. M Rubin Foundation, The Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation, and the Albert E. and Birdie W. Einstein Fund.

'Radical' Author Platt to Speak at Tour Event on Feb. 11

The School of Music and Fine Arts at Palm Beach Atlantic University will host the ninth annual Palm Beach Atlantic International Piano Festival on the University's main campus Feb. 16-22. Concerts throughout the week will showcase the skills of young artists who hail from such countries as Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Jordan, Lithuania, Portugal, Russia, Spain and Taiwan.
