It was a record-setting summer for the team that hosted Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (S.O.A.R.) events for incoming students.

On Tuesday, University President William M.B. Fleming Jr. thanked Dannemart Pierre, assistant director of the Student Success Center, and student worker Will Oliva for their work in making S.O.A.R. a memorable activity for the more than 450 students and their families — about 950 attendees in all — who came to one of the four sessions held this summer.
“You stepped in and set records for S.O.A.R.,” President Fleming told Pierre and Oliva. “You literally made our spirits soar through your hard work and attention to detail.”
Pierre and Oliva were among the latest members of the PBA community to be recognized for demonstrating the University’s theme for the past academic year, “Engagement Empowers.” The honorees each received clear Lucite paperweights bearing that theme.
President Fleming also recognized five employees who have been involved with the Enrollment and Revenue Management System (ERMS), a new partnership with consulting firm Noel-Levitz to assist in more specific and efficient admission and financial aid packaging for new traditional day students. The partnership helped with attracting what is expected to be the largest entering class ever this fall.
The honorees were Carolanne Brown, assistant vice president for Institutional Research and Effectiveness; Joseph Bryan, director of financial aid; Anne Ilcus, budget administrator and investment analyst; Andrew Shankman, assistant director of financial aid; and Jamie Zugelder, director of admissions.
“Isn’t it great how teamwork works? When you get the teamwork right, it’s like getting the recipe right,” President Fleming said to the group.
“You are serving in a leadership role. We appreciate the way in which you have humbled yourselves to the Lord in order to help PBA become a premier Christ-first university.”
