Palm Beach Atlantic University has named Associate Professor of Ministry and Leadership Studies Dr. Jonathan Grenz as the director of its new Master of Divinity program. Dr. Grenz has more than 20 years of ministry experience spanning the United States and western Canada. He has served as an associate pastor, lead pastor and director of a parachurch ministry.
Dr. Grenz was chosen following a national search. “Dr. Grenz has the ministerial credentials, seminary experience and leadership skills that we were seeking,” said University Provost Dr. Joseph A. Kloba. “Jon holds the respect of the School of Ministry faculty and has a solid reputation among pastors in Florida as a strong evangelical scholar who is deeply committed to training young people for ministry. We are delighted Jon has accepted this new assignment.”
Dr. Grenz holds a Master of Divinity degree from Sioux Falls Seminary and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Biola University, known for its emphasis in spiritual formation and apologetics. In addition to his teaching experience at PBA, he also has taught at Sioux Falls Seminary and Taylor University, College and Seminary in Edmonton, Alberta.
Since coming to PBA, Dr. Grenz has served churches through consulting, speaking at retreats, preaching and interim work. His expertise includes ministerial leadership, team ministry, Christian education and student ministries.
He co-authored “Synergistic Collaborations: Pastoral Care and Church Social Work,” seeking to extend outreach ministries and new ways to collaborate with community organizations as they serve hurting people.
Dr. Grenz has a passion for emerging and equipping young Christian leaders for the church and the world. He and his wife, Susan, have two children, one whom is a sophomore at PBA.
