Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Board of Trustees has selected Scott Hawkins, local attorney and past president of The Florida Bar, as its new chairman effective January 1, 2013.
Hawkins, Vice-Chairman of the West Palm Beach-based law firm Jones, Foster, Johnston and Stubbs, is Board Certified in Business Litigation by The Florida Bar, listed in Best Lawyers in America (Bet the Company Litigation) and has been recognized as a member of Florida Trend’s Legal Elite. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 1980 with a degree in economics, earned his J.D. from the University of Florida in 1983 and graduated with his M.B.A. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland as a Rotary International Foundation Scholar.

He has served on Palm Beach Atlantic’s board of trustees since 1994, most recently as the board’s vice chairman. He also has served on the board’s Executive, Planning, Academic Programs, Development, and Trusteeship and Governance committees. In 2003, the University recognized him as a companion medalist during its annual American Free Enterprise Day ceremony.
His community involvements include serving as former President of the Palm Beach County Bar Association and former President of Children's Place and Connor's Nursery, one of the first homes in Palm Beach County to care for abused, neglected, HIV-positive children. He is a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County and has served on the Palm Beach County committee for Florida’s Children First, the steering committee for the Palm Beach County Literacy Coalition and the Campaign Cabinet for the United Way of Palm Beach County. He also is active at First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach. He and his wife, Lisa, live in Palm Beach Gardens.
The Palm Beach Atlantic Board of Trustees also elected Jim Jenkins (B.S., University of Virginia) to serve as vice chairman effective Jan. 1. Jenkins, of West Palm Beach, is executive vice president of Esko, Inc.
John W. Little III (B.A., Wake Forest University, J.D., Florida State University) of West Palm Beach has been elected board secretary. Little is a partner with the Gunster Law Firm.
Bill Blodgett (M.B.A., University of Chicago) of Palm Beach and Sea Island, Ga., is board treasurer. Blodgett is president of Holland Pump Manufacturing of Georgia and LobePro.
