Fans Invited to Baseball Season Opener Feb. 2 at Roger Dean

The Palm Beach Atlantic University baseball program will open the 2012 campaign by hosting Lynn University at 7 p.m. on Feb. 2 at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter.

Sailfish players prepare to take on Lynn University at Roger Dean Stadium for the 2011 baseball season opener. Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) is a private, accredited, Christ-centered college located in West Palm Beach, Florida, USA.This will mark the third straight season that the Sailfish will begin the baseball season at Roger Dean Stadium, home to Major League Baseball's Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals, the defending World Series champion.

Admission for the game will be free to the public. Fans will have the opportunity to participate in on-field promotions, enjoy traditional ballpark concessions and experience a big-league atmosphere in a family-friendly setting.

The Sailfish return a large majority of their roster from a season ago when the team finished 27-26 under second-year head coach and MLB Hall-of-Famer Gary Carter. Since then, the Fish have added another big-league veteran to the coaching staff in former St. Louis Cardinal All-Star Kent Bottenfield, the program's associate head coach.

Lynn University returns a solid core from its team of last year, which finished 26-23. The Knights are under the direction of Rudy Garbalosa, who is entering his 11th season as head coach at Lynn. In 2009, he led the program to a NCAA Division II National Championship.

For questions on the game, please contact PBA Assistant Athletic Director Michael Brown at or (561) 803-2529.
