The Palm Beach Atlantic University volleyball program on Wednesday received its first NCAA regional ranking in team history. After earning a win over Florida Tech on Wednesday in Melbourne, the Sailfish currently stand at 20-3 on the season while being ranked No. 8 in the first NCAA South Region ranking as announced by the NCAA.
The Sailfish have lost only three matches this season, which happen also to be against the top three currently ranked in the regional poll: the University of Tampa, Rollins College and Eckerd College.
Following these institutions, which all hail from the Sunshine State Conference, are three Gulf South Conference members, the University of West Florida, the University of North Alabama and Christian Brothers in the No. 4-6 slots of the regional rankings.
Florida Southern College, another SSC member, ranks just ahead of Palm Beach Atlantic in the No. 7 spot while Saint Leo University and Benedict College round out the regional top 10.
The Sailfish have five regular season matches remaining on their schedule; however, only one of those will be a NCAA Regional contest when they take on Barry University on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Rubin Arena.
