The concerts will be held every Tuesday beginning June 7 through June 28 at 7 p.m. in the Helen K. Persson Recital Hall in Vera Lea Rinker Hall, located at 326 Acacia Rd. in West Palm Beach. Each concert will be an "Evening of Chamber Music," featuring classical music written for string quartets and performed in the intimate atmosphere of the Helen K. Persson Recital Hall.
The concert series opens on June 7 and will feature violinist James Buswell and cellist Carol Ou, both members of the New England Conservatory. They will perform Double Chaconne for violin and cello by Richard Toensing and Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D Minor and Cello Suite No. 6.
The series continues June 21 with Brahms’ Piano Quartet and Piano Quintet. Featured performers include international cellist Jonah Kim, violinist Jun-Ching Lin of the Atlanta Symphony, violist Stanley Konopka of the Cleveland Orchestra and international pianist Tao Lin.
The final concert on June 28 will feature Ysaye’s Sonata No. 2, Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata, Borodin’s Piano Quintet and Handel-Halverson’s Passacaglia. Performers include violinist David Mastrangelo of the Naples Philharmonic, cellist Jonah Kim, violinist Belen Clifford, violist David Pedraza and pianist Yueh-Yin Liao.
These string professionals are all instructors in the Palm Beach Atlantic Stringendo School for Strings Summer Academy, a four-week program in which serious string players ages 13 – 22 receive instruction from some of the most sought-after pedagogues, soloists and orchestral musicians in the United States. The program is directed by Patrick Clifford.
