Gov. Scott Among Scheduled Speakers at Strategic Forum

March 24, 2011
Gov. Rick Scott
Gov. Rick Scott

Florida Gov. Rick Scott and a number of local, national and international government and business leaders will discuss the topic "Thriving Within the New Economic Cycle" during the first Palm Beach Strategic Forum on April 4 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach.

Palm Beach Atlantic University is a knowledge partner for the forum, which is presented by the International Economic Forum of the Americas. The daylong conference will focus on how private and public companies, entrepreneurs and governments can contribute — within the context of an uncertain recovery — to the development of strategic sectors of the economy.

In addition to Gov. Scott, the schedule of invited guest speakers includes Martín Torrijos, former president of Panama; Dennis P. Lockhart, president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta; former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux; José Barrios Ng, deputy administrator of the Panama Canal Authority; and Jim Adams, vice president for the East Asia and Pacific Region with The World Bank Group.

A select group of PBA students will serve as volunteers during this event.

The Palm Beach Strategic Forum is a non-profit organization with the mission of fostering dialogue on national and global issues. Its parent organization, the International Economic Forum of the Americas, was founded in 1995 by Gil Rémillard, former Quebéc Justice Minister and counsel for the law firm Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP.

Based in Montreal, Toronto and Palm Beach, the Forum aims to promote an exchange of views and perspectives on pressing economic issues of our time among world leaders, renowned experts and business executives.

The International Economic Forum of the Americas also publishes a magazine and several books on a variety of issues, including corporate management, world economics and approaches to governance.
