A rock quartet made up of Palm Beach Atlantic University alumni is hoping for a chance to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.
Drummer Ryan Cooney, who earned a degree in marketing in 2008, and bass player David Mozdzanowski, who earned a degree in graphic arts in 2009, are members of the band The Gallery. Cooney’s brother, Brendan, also attended PBA for two years and is the band’s lead singer. The band’s lead guitarist, Shea Brennan, attended PBA for two years as well.
The Gallery is based in Wilbraham, Mass., and is hoping to become the first unsigned band to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone. Fans can rate the band online through 11:59 p.m. EST Tuesday to help determine which eight of the 16 finalists will make it through to the next round of competition.
During the fourth round, the two finalists will perform at the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee in June. Fans will determine the winner.
In addition to appearing on the magazine’s cover, the winning band receives a recording contract with Atlantic records and a performance on the show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
The Gallery was one of 16 bands selected by the magazine's editors from over 1,200 artists in all genres across North America.
The group will be in West Palm Beach on Friday for a CD release party, according to its Facebook page.
