Dr. Voddie Baucham Jr. is the keynote speaker for this fall's Christival, with Jay Boykin and the Band from the Ascent leading praise and worship.
Christival is a multi-day series of chapels each semester with guest evangelists and praise music. Chapels will be held in the Rubin Arena at 8 p.m. Sept. 14; 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sept. 15; and 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sept. 16. The services are open to the PBA community.
Dr. Baucham, often referred to as an Evangelist to intellectuals, serves as pastor of preaching at Grace Family Baptist Church in Spring, Texas. He has taught as an adjunct professor at many colleges and seminaries, including the College of Biblical Studies in Houston and Union University in Jackson, Tenn.
In 2004, Dr. Baucham released his first book, The Ever Loving Truth, followed by a second in 2007, Family Driven Faith. His most recent book, What He Must Be … If He Wants to Marry My Daughter, was released in 2009.
After earning bachelor's degrees in Christianity and sociology from Houston Baptist University, Dr. Baucham went on to earn degrees from Southwestern and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminaries. He has done additional post-graduate study at the University of Oxford in England.
