The Sailfish women's cross-country team is ranked No. 5 regionally in the latest women's cross-country rankings by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. It is the first such recognition in the program's history.
Leading the team is junior Meghan Gilmore, who has finished in the top five in each of the team's races. The team is bolstered by freshmen Victoria Cabrera and Morgan Skwira, who each finished in the top 20 at the Stetson University Hatters Invitational on October 15. The trio of Gilmore, Cabrera and Skwira helped lead the team to a fourth-place team finish at the tournament.
Other team wins included a fourth-place finish at the Florida Tech Invitational, where Gilmore took home individual champion honors.
The Sailfish cross-country team is now preparing for post-season races, which include the NCAA regionals on November 21 in Huntsville, Ala.
