INTECH Chairman to Speak at MBA Awards

Robert Garvy, chairman and chief executive officer of INTECH, will be the keynote speaker during Palm Beach Atlantic University's 12th annual MBA Awards ceremony on Dec. 6.

The event, which will be held at 6 p.m. at Phillips Point Club in West Palm Beach, will honor InfoStream President and CEO Alan Crowetz '89/'91 MBA as this year's outstanding graduate of the University's MBA program.

The event also will include the presentation of the Joe J. Eassa Jr. Scholarship to students currently in the MBA program in PBA's Rinker School of Business.

Robert-GarvyGarvy, who has more than 35 years of investment experience, joined INTECH in 1991. Based in West Palm Beach, INTECH manages approximately $42.4 billion of assets and is an indirect subsidiary of Janus Capital Group.

Garvy earned his MBA at Georgia State University in 1976, with special emphasis on investment theory. He joined Hazlehurst and Associates in Atlanta, where he was vice president of the firm's pension consulting division. He later joined Wilshire Associates, a prominent national investment consulting firm.

He is a well-known speaker at investment conferences and seminars and has been invited to present INTECH research work at universities and consultant gatherings around the world. Garvy also sits on the Board of Directors of The Institute for the Study of Quantitative Finance (Q Group).

Locally, Garvy has served on the Palm Beach Pension Board and is past chairman of Rosarian Academy. He also has served on the Palm Beach County Investment Board and has been active with Cardinal Newman High School. He also is a member of the Society of the Four Arts and is a board member of the Sailfish Club.

Alan-CrowetzDuring the Dec. 6 awards ceremony, Crowetz, of Lake Clarke Shores, will receive the Outstanding MBA Graduate Award. He is president and CEO of InfoStream, a computer and business consulting firm founded in 1994. He previously served as a consultant on television and a speaker for several professional and civic group events. In addition, he taught both computer and business courses at local colleges.

He earned an undergraduate degree in business from PBA in 1989 and he earned his MBA from 1991.

The event also will include the presentation of the Joe J. Eassa Jr. Scholarship. The scholarship was established in 1998 as a tribute to Dr. Eassa, founder of the graduate business studies program and the first director of the MBA program. He presently serves as professor of graduate business studies at PBA.
