Jordan Shaffer, a senior applied finance major from Pennsylvania, is the first recipient of a new fellowship developed by Intracoastal Family Office (IFO) at Capital Guardian Wealth Management in partnership with the Rinker School of Business at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

"Palm Beach Atlantic University has long been a center of excellence in preparing students to fulfill their professional life story. As the University and IFO share similar principles of ethics, innovation and empathy, we have a strong partnership in creating an incubator for select students to apply their classroom studies in the real world environment. Our practice hopes to find the talent for our future growth and success," said IFO Director Paul Vattiato.

The Intracoastal Family Office at Capital Guardian Wealth Management opened in November 2009 and has developed a contextual planning structure that regards clients in a holistic fashion. IFO principles are Jeffrey Eagle, Jack Kaplan and Paul Vattiato with offices located at Phillips Point's West Tower in West Palm Beach.

Recipients of this highly selective fellowship must be a junior or senior in the University's Rinker School of Business. The student will intern with Intracoastal Family Office for 20 hours per week for a full semester. Upon successful completion of the intensive, hands on internship and mentoring experience, the recipient receives a scholarship toward the next semester's tuition.

"This is a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of planning services from a highly ethical and very in-depth perspective. Intracoastal Family Office offers a fresh, invaluable dimension to collaborative planning as they ask the tough questions about family cohesion and dynamics, said Shaffer.

"Jordan is a remarkable person who exhibits the traits, talent and determination that make him the ideal recipient of our first fellowship internship. He is already helping us to make a difference in the lives of our clients," said Vattiato, who added that IFO will select one fellowship intern each semester.

The Rinker School of Business currently has one other selective fellowship, a semester-long upper-level internship with Jones Lowry, a family wealth planning firm in West Palm Beach.
