Broward County Commissioner Martin Kiar, a 1999 Palm Beach Atlantic University graduate who previously served for six years in the Florida House of Representatives, will receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award during a Homecoming dinner and alumni awards presentation at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Weyenberg Center in the Lassiter Student Center.

Manuel Sager, ambassador of Switzerland to the United States, and his wife, Christine, spoke during the latest President's Lyceum, a speaker series in which visitors who have distinguished themselves in various professions come to present their insights and experiences in a discussion with Palm Beach Atlantic University students.

Florida's waterways and its economy are inextricably linked, so water conservation is of vital importance for all Floridians, including its youngest residents. That was the message former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux shared last week with a group of students ranging from elementary school to college at an event at Conniston Middle School in West Palm Beach.

Florida residents Peter Copan and Emily Hardman have been selected to receive research fellowships from The LeMieux Center for Public Policy at Palm Beach Atlantic University. Through The LeMieux Center Fellows Program, these two upper-level undergraduate students will pursue an independent study of current or emerging public policy issues concerning individual freedoms, values, rights, religious liberties and institutions in the United States. The fellows receive a stipend to cover the cost of an independent study course as well as expenses, such as travel, incurred during the course up to $2,500 as well as ongoing guidance for their research project from former U.S. Senator George Lemieux.

Gregory Langowski, a Palm Beach Atlantic University graduate who is now Southeast regional director for the office of U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, will receive the Young Alumnus Award during the University's Homecoming weekend.

Paul Donahue, president and CEO of Palm Beach Gardens-based G4S Government Solutions, shared several insights with Palm Beach Atlantic University business students on Wednesday. Donahue, along with Honda Classic executive director Ken Kennerly, will receive the American Free Enterprise companion medal from Palm Beach Atlantic during a public ceremony at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday.
