Palm Beach Atlantic University, in partnership with Bank of America, will present the University's American Free Enterprise Medal to Tim Gannon, a co-founder of Outback Steakhouse, Inc., and the creator of the "Bloomin' Onion" recipe and many other dishes on Outback's menu. He is CEO of Palm Beach PDQ, and he plans to open four new PDQ restaurants this year, creating 300 jobs.

Polo, Culinary Champ to be American Free Enterprise Medalist

Former U.S. Attorney General, U.S. Senator and Governor of Missouri John Ashcroft will be the featured speaker at Palm Beach Atlantic University's Fall Commencement at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 14 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The event is open to graduates and guests who hold tickets. More than 250 candidates for bachelor's and master's degrees from the West Palm Beach, Orlando and Wellington campuses will participate in the ceremony. Ashcroft will be introduced by Susan Richmond Johnson, a 1995 Palm Beach Atlantic graduate of the Supper Honors Program, who serves as Managing Principal of The Ashcroft Group, LLC. Johnson received the Young Alumni Award from Palm Beach Atlantic in 2001.
John Ashcroft to Speak at Fall Commencement December 14

Palm Beach Atlantic University hosts its annual President's Distinguished Scholar Lecture this month with Dr. Henry F. Schaefer III, Graham Perdue Professor of Chemistry and director of the Center for Computational Quantum Chemistry at the University of Georgia since 1987. Dr. Schaefer’s lecture titled "C.S. Lewis: Science and Scientism" is free and open to the public Monday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the University's DeSantis Family Chapel, 300 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach.

Pastor and author Matt Garvin, son of Fusion International founder Mal Garvin, spoke in chapel at Palm Beach Atlantic University during Missions Emphasis Week. Joining him at PBA was Erion Dielli, founder and director of Fusion Albania.

Former women's soccer standout Dana Edwards Manatos and former baseball player Robert Pregnolato have been named to the Palm Beach Atlantic University Sports Hall of Fame class of 2013 and will be inducted during the University's Homecoming weekend.
