With local water restrictions now in effect, Palm Beach Atlantic University announced today it has received a donation of a high-tech underground soil moisture monitoring system that will help the University measure and reduce its water usage for irrigation purposes on a portion of the main campus.

This year, 45 students in grades K through 5 participated in Science Days at PBA, which is presented by the University in partnership with Bank of America. The camp included various types of activities, each with different scientific focus such as ecology, pharmacy/compounding, chemistry/medical chemistry, oceanography and physics.

Palm Beach Atlantic University Interim President William M.B. Fleming, Jr. today announced appointments and promotions to the University’s Alumni Relations office, which take effect July 1. Delesa Hinkle Morris has been appointed Assistant Vice President for Alumni Relations and Annual Fund. A graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic in 1985, she served the University as Director of Alumni Relations from 1998 to 2006. Breanne Fairfax has been promoted to Assistant Director of Alumni Relations. She joined PBA in 2010 as Alumni Associate, having worked as an intern in the Development office.

Palm Beach Atlantic University Interim President William M.B. Fleming, Jr. today announced promotions of two University employees to key leadership positions, which take effect July 1.Kevin Abel has been promoted to Dean of Students. Abel, who joined Palm Beach Atlantic in 2005 as Director of Residence Life, has served as Associate Dean of Students since 2009. In addition, Becky Peeling has been promoted to Associate Vice President of University Relations and Marketing. She joined the University in 1999 as Director of Marketing and was promoted in 2006 to Assistant Vice President.

Palm Beach Atlantic University presents Stringendo School for Strings Chamber Music Concert Series featuring members of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, New England Conservatory and PBA faculty. The concerts will be held at 7 p.m. every Tuesday beginning June 7 through June 28 in the Helen K. Persson Recital Hall in Vera Lea Rinker Hall on the PBA main campus.
