Florida residents Lisa Nyman of Jupiter and Whitney Smith of Punta Gorda have been selected to receive Palm Beach Atlantic University's Women of Distinction scholarships. Proceeds from the 23rd Women of Distinction luncheon on Feb. 19 provide scholarships for outstanding female students at Palm Beach Atlantic.

Dr. Timothy Ladd, who has served as the faculty athletics representative (FAR) for the Palm Beach Atlantic University Athletics Department for the past decade, was named the vice chair of the NCAA Division II Management Council. The announcement came at the recent NCAA national convention.

Breakfast With Fred Leadership Institute is coming to Palm Beach Atlantic University Feb. 20 and 21. Named for Fred Smith, Sr., a business executive and Christian layman known as "mentor to a generation of leaders" who died in 2007, Breakfast With Fred Leadership Institute brings leading men and women who travel at their own expense from across America to college campuses to share life experiences, wisdom and leadership principles with students. The BWFLI focuses on the influence of intergenerational interaction and conversation, inviting men and women 60+ to create connections with these future leaders.

Pastor and author James Choung, who has worked in campus ministries for nearly two decades, is bringing a four-part message about discipleship to Palm Beach Atlantic University students this week.

More than 150 Palm Beach Atlantic University students performed community service at six Palm Beach County locations on Monday as part of the annual MLK Challenge. Since 2001, PBA students have spent Martin Luther King Day participating in service projects through PBA's Workship program.

Palm Beach Atlantic University students will, as they have since 2001, make Martin Luther King Day on Monday a "day on, not a day off" by volunteering their time to serve the community.
