The Rev. Michael Sweeney, president of the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, Calif., will speak at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in Palm Beach Atlantic University's DeSantis Family Chapel. On Monday, 115 Palm Beach Atlantic University students took part in the MLK Challenge at six locations across Palm Beach County. Since 2001, PBA students have spent Martin Luther King Day performing service projects through PBA's Workship program. Classes were not in session on Monday.

PBA Appoints Stone Athletic Director

Interim President William M. B. Fleming, Jr. today announced the appointment of Carolyn S. Stone as Palm Beach Atlantic University’s new Director of Athletics. Stone succeeds Bob White, who will focus on his position as the University’s Hall of Fame women’s volleyball coach on the advice of his physician. Stone, a native and resident of North Palm Beach, brings more than 20 years of professional experience in sport management and administration. Presently, she serves as parks and facilities manager for the Village of North Palm Beach Parks and Recreation, a post she has held since 2008. Previously, she served the Town of Palm Beach and the City of Palm Beach Gardens in recreation and facilities leadership roles.

One step at a time, Palm Beach Atlantic University graduate Danielle Petrozelli is scaling Mount Kilimanjaro this week to give a voice to the voiceless. Joining her is high school student Madison Baczewski, who is dual-enrolled at PBA, and 48 other women from around the world who are taking part in the Freedom Climb, a project to raise awareness about the cause of human trafficking.

Palm Beach Atlantic University's athletic department reported a strong academic showing for the fall semester. Student-athletes achieved an overall grade point average of 3.0910, which is the highest on record for any one semester since the figures have been tracked.
