Adjunct Professor of Guitar

David Skantar began teaching guitar at Palm Beach Atlantic University in 1976. He has a BFA from Florida Atlantic University and a MM in classical guitar performance from the University of Miami. At Universitty of Miami, he studied with Rene Gonzalez and Juan Mercadal, and he has participated in master classes with Manuel Baruerco, Angel Romero and Ricardo Iznaola. Mr. Skantar works as a freelance solo guitarist in the South Florida area and has extensive chamber experience with the Ruck Guitar Ensemble and the Nearly Baroque Trio. When not at PBA, Mr. Skantar teaches elementary and instrumental music at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic School in Delray Beach. He also maintains a home recording studio where he produces Christian, classical and some pop/rock projects. David and his wife, Peggy, are actively involved in the music ministry of their church, St. Paul of the Cross, in North Palm Beach.
