At the conclusion of her doctoral work at Florida Atlantic University, Dr. Bunker was named the Outstanding Graduate Student for the Department of Exceptional Student Education (1997). She taught at the elementary school level for 16 years, and was named Rees Elementary School Teacher of the Year in 1988. At PBA since 1989, Dr. Bunker was named the recipient of the Corts Award for Outstanding Teaching in 1997. In 2006, 2005, 2004, 2002, and 1998, she was selected for inclusion in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. She has made numerous presentations at state and regional conferences, at local Christian schools, and she published an article in the Sunshine State TESOL Journal September 1999. She has done eight prepublication book reviews for Allyn and Bacon, and Corwin Press. She has been a field reviewer for the journal Teaching Exceptional Children and Associate Editor for Diagnostique. She served as a steward with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association during Amsterdam 86 and Amsterdam 2000. Teaching for PBA as an online senior professor, she lives in Ocilla, GA, with her husband, Duane, who retired from PBA in 2009. They are members of the Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
