Janet Cornella has been an elementary and middle school teacher in both public and private schools. She was assistant principal at Wellington Christian School for 17 years. She is certified on the Florida Performance Measurement System and is a certified Clinical Education Trainer for the state of Florida.

Her work at PBA has included serving as supervisor of student teaching, Associate Professor of Education, Teacher Education Committee Chair, representative for PBA on the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Advisory Board and Christian Schools of Palm Beach County, as well as coordinating educational grants such as the College Reach Out Program Grant, in which PBA has been a coalition participant with four other state universities.

She is an active member of the Boston College Alumni Association, having served on the Board of Directors for the Alumni Association as well as Club President for Palm Beach and Broward Counties. She is a member of St. Patrick's Church.
