Prior to coming to Palm Beach Atlantic University, Dr. Avery served as assistant director for several years with the Center of Thomas More Studies at the University of Dallas and completed a dissertation on Shakespeare’s Henriad. His training and passion, however, are in the broad spectrum of great works of the Western tradition, and he loves sharing the riches of that tradition with curious students. He has published articles on Thomas More and Shakespeare, and his current research focus involves an examination of how Protestant imagery helps to shape the meaning of Shakespeare’s plays. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, spending time with his wife Julie, and playing Ultimate Frisbee with other disc enthusiasts.
