John has been a reporter, photographer, columnist, bureau manager and editor with newspapers in Virginia and North Carolina. He has won numerous press association awards in writing, photography and page design. His other interests include web design, fiction writing and music. His heroes include Henri Cartier-Bresson, James Thurber, Dave Barry and Rich Mullins. John and his wife Lou have been Young Life volunteers for many years. They have a married daughter and a daughter in college.
