Gene C. Fant, Jr., has joined Palm Beach Atlantic University as Provost and Chief Academic Officer and professor of English. Prior to his time at PBA, he served as the executive vice president for academic affairs at Union University. Dr. Fant is a widely recognized writer, speaker, and preacher; he has written or contributed to almost a dozen books and many academic and popular press articles. His most recent book is The Liberal Arts: A Student’s Guide (Crossway). He also serves as a contributing blogger at the Chronicle of Higher Education’s “Vitae” and at First Things’ “First Thoughts.” Four generations of his family have graduated from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and his grandfather, father, and uncle were all pastors and evangelists; his mother is Mona Faith, a singer-songwriter and syndicated radio host. While growing up, Gene and his family moved from Mississippi to New York, where his father planted nine churches in seven years.
