Seena L. Haines is the associate dean for faculty and professor at Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Lloyd L. Gregory School of Pharmacy. At PBA, Dr. Haines teaches case studies in pharmacotherapy and disease prevention and health promotion, which includes immunization certificate training through Drug Store News. She received more than $750,000 in grant funds from local foundations (Palm Healthcare, Quantum, Stranahan, and Allegany) for the creation and site replication of the pharmacotherapy model she developed, Integrated Pharmacotherapy Services™ (a pharmacist-run, primary care, indigent clinic for the underserved in Palm Beach County). In addition, Dr. Haines has received funding from Procter and Gamble to assess the incidence and prevalence of osteoporosis in Haitian women. She served for the last seven years as director of pharmacy services at four community health centers, receiving ADA education recognition for DSME as a single-provider, multi-site program in 2009. Haines also served as the administrator of MedData Services medication assistance program for Palm Beach County from 2006-2011. From 2008-2011, Dr. Haines served as co-director of the Diabetes Education and Research Center in collaboration with the Florida Atlantic University School of Nursing. Dr. Haines has served as residency director for the ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY-1) emphasizing in ambulatory care and academia at PBA since its inception in July 2008. Dr. Haines served as director at large for the ASHP section of ambulatory care practitioners through 2012 and is now chair-elect (2012-2014). Her other professional achievements include board certification in ambulatory care practice (BCACP), AACP Innovation in Teaching Award 2010, chair for the ASHP SAG on reimbursement for cognitive services, inaugural AACP self-care SIG chair, certified diabetes educator (CDE), board certified in advanced diabetes management (BC-ADM), 2009 Preceptor of Distinction, 2008 Hero in Medicine, inaugural AACP academic leadership fellow, and co-editor and steering committee member of the Non Prescription Medicine Academy. She serves on the National Speaker’s Bureau, the Tobacco Taskforce: RX for Change, and as a national trainer for the immunization training program through the American Pharmacists Association. Prior to coming to PBA, Dr. Haines completed a postgraduate residency in ambulatory care at Nova Southeastern University.
