Roget Pontbriand was the department chair at Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he developed a B.M. degree in contemporary Christian music. Pontbriand also was an adjunct professor at Middle Tennessee State University, where he directed the university jazz ensemble and taught music composition. Pontbriand has also studied at two prestigious jazz schools; Berklee College of Music Boston, Mass. and the Grove School of Music, Studio City, Calif. Roget has had an extensive career in the commercial music industry. He has worked in Boston, New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Branson and Miami as a studio musician, composer and arranger. He was the resident composer for Classic Video Production in Akron, Ohio. As resident composer for Robert VanKampen, Roget wrote many large compositions for the Grand Rapids and Lakeshore Symphony Orchestras. Roget has composed a symphony and an opera for Palm Beach clients. Roget toured with the Grammy nominated group Wild Cherry, K.C. and the Sunshine Band, Bullet and other pop bands. He has also performed with many big bands which include; Maynard Ferguson, Mel Tormé, Dee Barton, Nashville Jazz Machine, Xavier Cugat, Shoji Tabushi, Bo Thorpe and Bob Hoose orchestras. Pontbriand has performed with such artists as Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Florence Henderson, Frank Gorshin, The Jordanaires, Leslie Gore, Wolfman Jack, Carol Channing, John Secata, Anita Bryant, The Skyliners, The Temptations, Coasters, Drifters, Cleftones, Frankie Vallee and the Four Seasons, Jay and the Americans, The Harptones, Solitares, The Four Lads, The Spinners, The Four Freshman and others. He also has written many arrangements for Christ Fellowship Church, where from 2000 to 2007 he was a member of the praise team. At PBA Mr.Pontbriand is the director of the Popular Music program. Mr. Pontbriand has been music director and conductor for many of the university's theater department productions, including: Footloose, How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Me and My Girl, West Side Story, and Into The Woods. Roget arranged several selections for the First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach's 2006 "Singing Christmas Tree" choir and orchestra. At PBA Roget also directs the university jazz ensemble, which has featured 29 original big band arrangements in concert. Some of these arrangements have been performed at Old Miss, the University of Akron, and Florida Atlantic University. In 2007, Roget was a guest lecturer at the IAJE convention in New York.
