A.B., Albright College; M.A., Rutgers State University; Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Calhoun taught in Mexico for ten years, six of which were at the University of the Americas in the international relations department teaching in Spanish. He has taken student groups to the Yucatan peninsula and Central America and has participated in Oxford University summer studies program and Council on International Educational Exchange Faculty seminar in Northern Ireland. He has also attended a second conference in Budapest and Prague on the Transition from Communism to Common Market. On a mission trip to Russia and the Ukraine, he taught a class at the Institute of International Affairs and has also helped organized and participated in two mission trips to Nicaragua. In addition, he has done a sabatical with the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities' Russian Studies program in Nizhini Novgorod, Russia. His research interests include Mexican nationalism, elections and public opinion in Great Britain, peace process in Northern Ireland, and the changes that have occurred in the teaching of social studies in Russian High schools. During the summer of 2007 he participated in a CCCU faculty tour of the Middle East (Israel and Egypt). Dr. Calhoun was also a frequent political commentator for several local television stations and one Christian radio station, WRMB.
