Kid vs. Wild: The Science Behind Survival Skills

Dates: June 9-13

Time: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Cost: $175

Extended care can be provided at additional cost of $15 per child/per day (7:30-8:30 a.m. and 3:30-4:30 p.m.)

Each day will center around a specific theme, which will have applications to scientific fields including chemistry, physics and biology:

Exploration and inquiry-based learning:

Group 1: First-third graders

  • Exploration and inquiry-based learning
  • Fast pace, exciting experiments, held outdoors or in the classroom
  • Interaction with college professors
  • Hands on activities

Group 2: Fourth and fifth graders

  • Laboratory experiments led by college professors
  • Hands on activities related to applications of scientific ideas to survival skills
  • Library projects and reflection times
  • Outdoor activities

Experiment and team-based learning  for middle school campers:

Group 3: Sixth-eighth graders

  • Daily laboratory experiments led by PBA faculty
  • Break for physical activity after lunch
  • Fun activities and group projects in the afternoon centered around the science topic of the day
