Matt focuses his practice on estate planning, federal income and estate tax issues, and probate and trust administration. He assists clients with creating basic estate plans, including wills and revocable trusts as well as sophisticated estate plans including dynasty trusts, irrevocable life
insurance trusts (ILITs), qualified personal residence trusts (QPRTs), grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), and family limited partnerships (FLPs). He also advises clients on Florida residency planning. Matt also has experience advising non-resident aliens regarding U.S. gift,
estate and income taxes and has advised U.S. citizen and resident clients with U.S. income tax obligations in regards to offshore assets, and has assisted U.S. citizen and resident clients in navigating the IRS Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Programs.
Matt received his B.S. in Business Administration from Eastern Connecticut State University, summa cum laude, and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law.
He is admitted to practice law in Florida, Connecticut and New York. Matt is a member of the Tax section and Real Property, Probate and Trust sections of the Florida Bar and a member of the East Coast Estate Planning Council and the
Palm Beach County Bar Association. He also serves on the board of directors of the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County. Matt has co-authored numerous publications on estate planning and has lectured on various estate planning and international tax topics. For a list of

He joined Haile Shaw & Pfaffenberger in 2014. Prior to joining HSP, Matt practiced in the West Palm Beach law office of Kaye Scholer LLP and in the Naples, FL and Stamford, CT law offices of Cummings & Lockwood LLC.
