University Salutes Outstanding Fall Graduates at Honors Day

Eight students have been chosen as the outstanding graduates of their schools and were recognized during Palm Beach Atlantic University’s fall 2012 Honors Day ceremony on Thursday.

The honorees were biology major Maira Gaffar of West Palm Beach, outstanding graduate in the School of Arts and Sciences; marketing major Rebekah Bouch of Oviedo, Fla., outstanding graduate in the Rinker School of Business; journalism major Christopher Hernandez of New York, N.Y., outstanding graduate in the School of Communication and Media; psychology major Mylissa Fraser of Lake Worth, outstanding graduate in the School of Education and Behavioral Studies; organizational management major Susan Roberson of Royal Palm Beach, outstanding graduate in the MacArthur School of Leadership; ministry leadership studies major Alexis Paneque of Boynton Beach, outstanding graduate in the School of Ministry; dance major Ashley Broom of Glendale Heights, Ill., outstanding graduate in the School of Music and Fine Arts; and Kelly Morton of Winter Garden, Fla., outstanding graduate for the Orlando campus. Morton is pursuing a degree in organizational management.

To be eligible for an Outstanding Graduate Award, the student must have a minimum 3.5 GPA based on 60 credits or more earned at PBA.

In addition, four students were honored by their departments: Kyra Brundell of Shoreview, Minn., Journalism and Entertainment Media Department, School of Communication and Media; Deborah Levinsky of West Caldwell, N.J., Elementary Education Department, School of Education and Behavioral Studies; Jennifer O’Brien of Coral Springs, Fla., Marketing Department, Rinker School of Business; and Kyra Speegle of West Palm Beach,  Fla., Secondary Education Department, School of Education and Behavioral Studies. Speegle also received the English Department award from the School of Arts and Sciences.

They, along with other graduates, will receive their degrees in a 2 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach.
