Dance Ensemble Presents 'Kaleidoscope' April 4-5

The Palm Beach Atlantic University Dance Ensemble. Palm Beach Atlantic University (PBA) is a private, Christ-centered college in West Palm Beach, Fla., USA.


The Palm Beach Atlantic University Dance Ensemble presents Kaleidoscope 2014 at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, and Saturday, April 5, at the Rinker Playhouse of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, 701 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach. The concert will feature the work of student choreographers Denton Gay and twin sisters Breanna and Deanna Butts, as well as works by three visiting choreographers. One of them, Barbara Craddock, brings more than 40 years of experience through her work performing and teaching with acclaimed mambo legend Pedro “Cuban Pete” Aguilar. With performance coordinator Victor Trevino, Craddock choreographed an original dance titled “Si Me Pudieras Amar.”

The concert also will include the debut of “Time Flies” by guest choreographer Carlos de Barros, a life-affirming work titled “Endure” by Jacqueline Lopez and a tap performance by Adjunct Professor of Tap Jamie Kassler.

This performance is directed by Dr. Kathleen Klein, professor and chair of the University’s dance department. Dr. Klein has extensive training in numerous dance styles and theories. Her specialties include pointe and partnering, ballet theory, kinesiology, dance history and music theory as well as child psychology and pedagogy.
